The City Called Life series is based on photographs taken in various cities in Canada and Europe, but the actual setting is larger than any specific city; the series shows people in some typical life situations. After I was often asked, “Which city is this?” I started to call it A CITY CALLED LIFE!
Although I greatly admire the photos taken by great street photographers such as Brassai and Cartier-Bresson and by some documentary photographers, I just cannot make myself take photos of identifiable people without getting their permission. Thus I decided to use Photoshop on these photos to render the people unidentifiable. That was the beginning of my “foto-fiddling” in general!
Originally, there were more than 20 pictures in this series, but since most of them were made around 2006 when I was just learning about Photoshop, I am not too happy with the results and I am reworking them a bit. Probably many of those will eventually appear here.
